Default Fix Superior Salvage kit!

I would totally buy ti for the same price, even if it had only 25 uses, if it gave me an option of what I want to salvage, like click on runed armor "Rune or material?" or say a hale staff of fortitude/ "hale, fortitude or ingots?"

thats what I want

I think taking the risk is kind of what Anet was going for, that way you don't go salvaging everything that moves.

If you want the material just use a normal salvage kit, if not, take a risk with the sup.

Ok...normal salvage 100 gold, 4 a use, materials only. Expert-400 gold, 16 a use, may salvage materials, rune, upgrades or rare materials. Sup, 2k, 20 a use, designed to be a more convinient version of expert, you pay 400 more for the price of 3 spaces.

I just want the bloody price of it fixed! Is that too much to ask? The cost per use is more than the expert kit, and that's just stupid.

Agreed. I would pay more (per salvage) if it fuctioned better than an expert salvage did, but it doesn't and that is my gripe. I'm all for chance - even if I have lost superior runes to the thing, but there is just no point in paying more per salvage for no added advantage.

And while we're at it, the same goes for the superior ID kit. More (significantly more) per ID - and there really isn't a way to improve this one.

I totally agree. And to this day, I have no idea why they made the superior salvage and identification kits more expensive per use.. what is the point of it, why even introduce them? Someone please enlighten me, cause the only reason I can think of is: it takes up less inventory space and gives you more uses, so basically you don't have to run to the merchant that often.. so they made the price is higher as a punishment of our laziness.

Yep. You pay for convinence. Why do ya think the corner shop always seems to be more expensive than the supermarket?

Yes, convenience. You're paying extra for saving inventory slots. On a long farming trip (clearing all the Hydras in Skyward Reach, for example), I all too often fill up my inventory and wind up having to discard items that are worth a decent amount of gold to the merchant.

But I still don't agree with a "pick what you salvage" system. You luck out and find a Heavy Gladius of Fortitude +30. We all know which mod is worth no more than the 25 gold the merchant will take, we know how much the 4 iron ingots are worth. And we know 110% for sure which mod any given player will take given the choice. The one worth 30 platinum (or whatever they go for these days). If such a kit is ever made, it should be priced at 10,000 gold per use, minimum. Maybe even 20,000 per use. Because people will carry expert kits to use on other items, and will ONLY use their Superior kits when they know they can get a high-priced mod with it. If you want to salvage perfect mods every time, you shouldn't be able to do it cheaply.

Completely agreed. Some people want everything handed to them on a silver platter. At least make them pay a HUGE sum for the platter so they stop whining.

It is obvious that the costs are more than just buying the smaller kits for the number of uses, but I guess we pay for the convenience factor. What annoys me is that often times I want to get the materials out of a blue armor and can't use the Superior Salvage because I run the risk of getting the rune. So I always have to carry at least one regular salvage with me.

I see what the OP is saying and agree to some extent, but being able to pick what you get is not the correct action. I would like to see a Superior Ident, Superior Expert Salvage and a Superior Regular Salvage though.

To OP, I like the idea

To those that realize the cost per use ratio, it's a gold sink created by Anet.

I myself cary a standard Id, Salavage, and Expert Salvage while "holding" dead wait in my inventory. Make sure you unload before you got out, been able to hold out just fine.

I don't with the OP about salvage kit giving the option to choose what to salvage.

However, I do think they should add in a new NPC, the Master Salvager that if you pay him a handsome fee, he will garuntee to salvage any mods or runes for you. Can also place him not in town, but in exploration area, to make them harder to find.

THEN JUST DONT BUY IT

if you buy it it is worth the extra cost to you or you would have bought 4 expert instead of 1 superior.

/sarcasm

why not ask for a volume discount since you are getting 100 uses instead of 25? make it 3 gold per use

/sarcasm off

well why not?

in actuallity as loviathan so sarcastically stated you will get a volume discount, in reality volume discounts aren't amounts that take it down from a respective 16 per piece to 3 but I wouldn't mind seeing a cost of 14 per piece, making it cost a nice round 1400 for an expert. It is still more expensive but on a per item salvage value it is less then its respective comparison the expert salvage kit. And that is imho how it should be. In stead of the reversed world.

Salvaging is not supposed to be a moneysink seeing as your dependent on it to craft your armor and weapons. And those are in most cases not gold sinks since the moneycost is already integrated in the cost of the either drop only craftitems or/and in the moneycost of the armours.

You pay for convinience. And, you already get a volume discount. You buy 4 expert kits and pay 400 less than 1 superior. But, you have to cart around 3 more which cna use up some good space. Don't like it? Don't buy it. It's not critical to your advancement through the game.

Think of it not so much as a discount buy, but a convenience buy. Could I go to whatever store and get something for $Y or go to local gas station that is very close to me and pay $Y + 10% more? If it were truly a buying in bulk situation, the superior kits should actually cost less than buying them individually (think Sam's Club or Costco).

I could spend less money by getting only one kit and then whenever it runs out go get another, but as full as my inventory is already, I get the superior kits because I spend a lot of time salvaging just for the materials now. And on areas where you get a lot of drops from an already over crowded storage, they are more convenient.

I am fine with it the way it is, it isn't like they hid the charge. It is a gold sink, but you see the price and since they are right next to each other for comparision, you make an informaed judgement based on your needs.

also if money is tight get the cheaper one to use.

note for those looking for some extra gold easy

on anyhting above nolani territory id everything after you get to the merchant before you sell it.

most of the time the id price will be enough higher to make the id worthwile.

a few 1 gold increases yes

but the 8, 17, 42, 70+ increases way out balance those.

on anything that might give SILK (15 gold) i use a regular salvage instead of an expert that might give silk

silk cost to expert salvage 16 sell for 15 lose 1 gold

regular salvage and get 6 cloth make a nice profit

just learn when to use what
